This has been considered the best time to see the cats as they go on a hunting spree before sun-rises on the horizon. Back to your camp for a full breakfast, then visit the Maasai village [manyatta] and later depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. lunch served on the way arriving at Lake Nakuru hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight-stay at the Sarova Lionhill Game Lodge.

Scenic Lake Nakuru is Kenya’s most popular national park. The park’s main feature is a large, shallow lake supporting great birdlife, including big flocks of pelicans and variable flocks of flamingos. The lake was once famous for its flamingos, however, since 2012, conditions have become unfavorable for these birds and most have moved to other Rift Valley lakes.

Day 5: Lake Bogoria

After breakfast, leave in the mid-morning head towards Lake Bogoria. Lake Bogoria in Kenya is one of the lesser celebrated of the Rift Valley lakes but it provides as much beauty and inspiration as any of the other dramatic lakes in the region. Such is the importance of Lake Bogoria that it has been declared a Ramsar Site and the Lake Bogoria National Reserve has been a protected area since the early 1970's. With a depth of about 10 meters the lake is relatively shallow and is approximately 34 km long by 3.5 km wide.

With it’s ideal conditions it is home to one of the world's largest populations of lesser flamingoes. Due to the lake’s alkalinity, blue green algae grows well, this in turn feeds the flamingoes. At times the number of flamingoes feeding in the lake may be as many as two million - creating a wonderful undulating blaze of pink as the flamingoes go about their feeding. This scene of brilliant pink flamingoes by the millions is only found in the Rift Valley Lakes of Kenya, and so is not replicated anywhere else in the world, due to the very specific environment needed by the birds. Aside from the flamingoes there are many other birds and animals to see at Lake Bogoria such as buffalo, zebra, baboon, warthog, caracal, spotted hyena, impala and dik dik.

You will check in at the Lake Bogoria Spa Resort.

Day 6: Lake Baringo, Departure for Nairobi

After breakfast, head out to lake Baringo - a fascinating place for geologists and nature lovers' alike, with outlandish landscapes and prolific birdlife. Part of the East African Rift Valley, Lake Baringo is one of only two freshwater Rift Valley lakes, together with Lake Naivasha, in Kenya. It is in the remote west-central region of Kenya, with only Lake Turkana being further north. Lake Baringo is fed by a number of rivers, but has no visible outlet. It is assumed that the water seeps away into the faults in the bedrock. The water level of Lake Baringo dropped to some of the lowest levels recorded due to drought and agricultural irrigation but the floods in Northern Kenya in recent years pushed the level up alarmingly.

Explore on foot this nature lake and view the flamingoes in their thousands. Caution must be taken while walking near the hot springs as these are super hot. You will have your Picnic lunch at Lake Baringo, after which you proceed to Nairobi via Nakuru.
