Kilimanjaro on its last eruption, yet the lush green areas are a result of a continuous water supply from the mountain's melting snow.

Kenya region arrive at the lodge in time for lunch then enjoy the facilities and activities at the lodge, explore the Mount Kenya National Park or take an optional tracking guided tour evening enjoy watching different animals as they come to lick salt and quench thirst at the pool. Inside, log-panelled walls and timbered game-viewing decks welcome you to the surrounding natural beauty. Experience the African desert at its best and as a lesser known park it is less crowded, with game drives on both days giving you the opportunity to spot leopard, lion and cheetah. This is the dry, north of Kenya and the reserve attracts wildlife not often seen elsewhere, so be on the lookout for gerenuks – a unique gazelle with a long neck that stands on its hind legs.
Explore the Samburu National Reserve through morning and afternoon game drives. You may opt to do some of the activities offered at the lodges and a visit to Samburu Villages at an extra cost. The light and vast openness creates a lonesome panoramic beauty and the permanent water supply acts like a lure for the abundant species found here. The region is home to the uncommon Grevy's zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings, excellent bird watching with numerous varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sighting is also a special feature here.

The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary was established with an agreement between the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Jane Goodall Institute. The aim – to provide lifelong refuge to orphaned and abused chimpanzees from West and Central Africa. Over the last decade, Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary has been compelled to keep accepting chimpanzees rescued from traumatic situations - bringing the total number of chimpanzees in the Sanctuary to 35. Many are confiscated from cramped and unnatural living conditions, and many arrive with horrific injuries sustained from abuse at the hands of humans. At Sweetwaters, they get a chance to start over.
Day 8: Lake Nakuru National Park
Drive via Thomson's Falls to Lake Nakuru for lunch. Here, due to an abundance of algae in the lake, flamingo famously lines the shores. Sometimes (in season) all that can be seen is an incredible moving mass of pink! Enjoy an afternoon game drive hopefully spotting beautiful flamingos on the lake and the resident rhino. You will be assisted to check in at the Sentrim Elementeita Lodge
Lake Nakuru offers easy wildlife viewing of most big safari animals with the exception of elephants. Black and white rhino were re-introduced in the 1990s and have bred to healthy populations.
