Days 1-2: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Pick-up from your hotel after breakfast 07:30-am for Maasai Mara driving southwest via the Great Rift Valley view-point where you’ll stop for 15-20 minutes to see the panoramic and breathtaking-views. Descend the escarpment and drive through the Hemingway-trails to Maasai Mara, lunch served on the way at Narok-town. After lunch, proceed to Maasai Mara arriving in good time, check in at AndBeyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. You’ll spend 2 nights here to explore, discover and experience the magic of Mara.
The Masai Mara is one of Africa’s most famous parks. The wildlife viewing is superb throughout the year. The grassy plains and regular rainfall supports a huge population of herbivores, in turn attracting many predators. All three big cats are relatively easy to see. The yearly wildebeest migration coming through the park is one of the world’s most amazing wildlife spectacles.
The Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is home to the annual wildebeest migration where 2.5 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelles follow the rains in search of new grass. They make their way from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara somewhere around July and August, and usually arrive in September. The crossing of the Mara River along the way is one of the highlights of this spectacular event. They slowly head back into Tanzania around October.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park
Pre-breakfast game drive from 06:30-am to 09:30-am, see leopards, cheetahs, lioness hunting. This has been considered the best time to see the cats as they go on a hunting spree before sun-rises on the horizon. Back to your camp for a full breakfast, then visit the Maasai village [manyatta] and later depart for Lake Nakuru National Park. lunch served on the way arriving at Lake Nakuru in the evening for dinner and overnight-stay at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.
Scenic Lake Nakuru is Kenya’s most popular national park. The park’s main feature is a large, shallow lake supporting great birdlife, including big flocks of pelicans and variable flocks of flamingos. The lake was once famous for its flamingos, however, since 2012, conditions have become unfavorable for these birds and most have moved to other Rift Valley lakes.
Day 4: Lake Naivasha
After an early breakfast, proceed for a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru Park known for its migratory thousands of flamingoes and other water birds species. This is the only park in Kenya to see the white and black rhinos, buffaloes and tree climbing lions. Proceed to Lake Oloiden in Naivasha to see flamingoes and other birds’ species. Visit Hells Gate Park and have a swim in the natural spar swimming-pool (Note: remember to bring your swimming costumes). Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge.
Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge is set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the resort is not only home to our resident giraffe, waterbuck and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys, but it is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on our expansive lawns.
Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge has 21 cottages with each having 2 ground floor rooms and 2 upper floor rooms adding up to 84 rooms. 6 of the 21 cottages have interconnecting rooms which makes them ideal for families. 2 of the rooms are wheelchair accessible. The rooms have either king-size or queen-size beds. Stone walls with creepers and bougainvilleas are quintessential to the design of the cottages. Facilities, activities and amenities include; Bird watching, board games, swimming pool, conference hall, gift shop, laundry, nature walk, outdoor dining hall, on request at a cost – sundowners, horse-riding, fishing, water sports, cycling and nature trails, bird walks, boat trips and day trips to nearby Crescent Island, Elsemere and Hells Gate National Park..
Days 5-6: Amboseli National Park
After an early breakfast, proceed for game drive in Lake Nakuru Park to see lion, buffalo, hyena, water buck, white and black rhinos, antelope and other plain games in abundance. Proceed to Amboseli Park with lunch on the way, game-drive en-route arrive Amboseli National Park set in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro "Africa’s Highest Mountain. Check in at the Amboseli Sopa Lodge.
Amboseli is often called the ‘Land of Giants’ – due to the impressive elephants here carrying massive tusks. The animals are set against breathtaking vistas of Mt Kilimanjaro, which makes an awesome backdrop to the small park. Aside from elephants, many plains animals are easy to spot. Fantastic photo opportunities are possible, and early mornings are best for clear views of Kilimanjaro.
Amboseli offers great wildlife viewing, and four of the Big Five are present. Rhinos are absent, but big herds of elephants reliably move to and from the marshy swamps in the center of the park. Buffalo, wildebeest, Burchell's zebra and gazelle are all very common. Lions are the easiest to spot of the big cats, but sightings are hit-and-miss.
The park encloses an interesting variety of habitats including dusty plains and marshy swamps, but it is the backdrop of snow-capped Kilimanjaro towering above the Amboseli plains that attracts most visitors to this scenic park.
Days 7-9: Diani Beach
After an early morning game drive and full breakfast, leave the Amboseli savannahs behind, and fly to the beautiful white beaches of the Kenyan south coast. Stay in a beautiful beach villa that overlooks the Indian Ocean. Relax in the warm sunshine down on the sandy white beach and sip on a cocktail after a dip in the ocean or pool. In the evening, dine on a delicious meal of freshly prepared seafood.
Enjoy a beach holiday on the Kenyan coast. Set out in a traditional dugout canoe (Ngalawa) with a local fisherman and go snorkelling among the vibrant coral reefs. Be pampered with a rejuvenating massage or let the lodge arrange a number of optional activities for you. Diving, kite surfing, horse riding, Jet-ski, dolphin safaris and deep-sea fishing can all be arranged.
Day 10: Departure, Transfer Mombasa
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the local Diani airstrip for your schedule flight to Nairobi to connect your onward international flight home.
